G7 leaders resolve to fight negative ethnicity
Posted on Sunday, March 18, 2012 @ 20:42:35 CDT by kwpnews

BUNGOMA, (KNA) - Leaders allied to G7 alliance have vowed to unite in the fight against negative ethnicity for the sake of peace and stability in the country.

The leaders led by Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, Eldoret North MP William Ruto and Sabaoti MP Eugene Wamalwa vowed to unite in the fight against negative ethnicity in the country.

Speaking in Bungoma town Saturday, Musyoka said it is time leaders intensify the fight against negative ethnicity with a view to attaining a united nation free from tribalism.

"Nobody should interfere with our efforts to unite for the sake of peace and stability in this country.''

He said Kenyans are guaranteed to vote for leaders of their choice without being victimized by anybody.

"All people should vote the way they want without any interference from anybody.''

He said days are gone when Kenyans voted on tribal grounds, saying it is time Kenyans elected leaders irrespective of tribal or political affiliations.

Musyoka told the rally cum prayer meeting which was attended by several MPs, councilors among other leaders that never again should this country experience clashes like those witnessed during the 2008 post election violence.

He said leaders should spearhead the campaigns to explore ways of creating more employment opportunities for this country.

The Vice President said the new constitution gives all Kenyans equal opportunity as far as the distribution of resources is concerned.

He said Kenya will corporate with the ICC as far as the cases facing the four Kenyans, saying he was optimistic that fairness will be achieved at the end of the day.

Musyoka said there was nothing wrong when people convene prayer rallies since it was their constitutional right to do so.

He maintained that the next general election should be held at the end of this year in line with the wishes of the people.

Ruto and Uhuru said there is need to preach peace and reconciliation among all Kenyans if a united country free from tribalism has to be attained.

They said the G7 alliance will unite in the search for peace and stability of this country.

"No blood will be lost anymore because of elections. We want a peaceful election,'' said Mr. Ruto.

He said it was disheartening that some individuals want to benefit from clashes in this country, saying Kenyans have said enough is enough to violence.
